“Nearly 250 DVD’s of the Tamil superstar Rajnikanth’s latest blockbuster Sivaji film was seized at Kolar district of Karnataka state”, says distributor of Sivaji H.D.Gangaraju speaking to this journalist at his office on Monday afternoon in Bangalore.

Karnataka Police today arrested five persons in Kolar on the charges of selling the pirated Compact Discs (CD) of the recently released Rajnikant’s film ”Sivaji-the Boss”.

Talking to newspersons here, H D Gangaraj, who holds the rights of the film’s distribution in Karnataka, said the police had busted the piracy network. On a tip-off the police raided a video library in the town and seized pirated CD’s, he said.

Well-knit underworld gangs were operating in pirating the CDs of the popular movie in all languages, he alleged.

Mr Gangaraj urged the government to enforce the Goondas Act against piracy of films.

The act was in force in the neighbouring states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, but it was yet to be notified in Karnataka, he said.
