Kamal Haasan Celebrates 56th Birthday in Chennai Gallery
Service is his motto
Distribution of financial aid, assistance to the needy and down-trodden marked the birthday celebrations of actor Kamal Haasan in Chennai today. The actor turned 56 on Sunday.
Speaking at the celebrations organised by Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam, the actor urged his fans to continue to serve the needy and pooor and be of some use to the society.
The function was presided over by Professor Gnanasambandam. Kamal Haasan presented a number of items to various people including a laptop for a twelfth standard student, uniforms to 56 auto drivers, 15 tailoring machines to women, medicines worth Rs 20,000 for students of an NGO, 50 blankets to an institution in Tiruvannamalai that takes care of children suffering from AIDS, books worth Rs 25000 to college students, 100 pillows and mats to an old age home, Rs 10,000 each to three widows and Rs 3000 to two physically-challenged men sponsored by various units of Narpani Iyakkam across the State including Chennai, Thiruvannamalai, Perambalur, Hosur, Cuddalore. Also the best serving units were given special awards.
CM greets Kamal
Tamilnadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today greeted Kamal Hassan on the occasion of his birthday and said he had attained a pride of place and pinnacle of glory in the Tamil Film Industry. In his message to the actor, Karunanidhi wished him an ever-growing place in the Tamil Film Industry. ‘I wish you many happy returns of the day. You have, right from your boyhood days, grown in the Tamil film world and now attained a pride of place and pinnacle of glory,’ he said.
