Mandaadi, the upcoming Tamil sports action drama starring Soori in the lead role, is gearing up for its theatrical release on September 10, 2026. Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, the film takes audiences into the world of traditional boat racing along Tamil Nadu’s coastal communities.

Set against the backdrop of the sea and coastal life, Mandaadi revolves around a traditional sailing boat race and the fierce competition between rival teams.
Soori plays Muthukaali, a fishing captain and leader who takes part in the challenging boat race. The story explores the rivalry between competing teams while also focusing on friendship, family, pride and the lives of people connected to the sea.
The film is inspired by a traditional boat-racing sport practiced along a stretch of Tamil Nadu’s coastline. The title Mandaadi refers to the leader of a fishing expedition team participating in this type of sailing boat race.
