When Cancer hit my wife Sudha, our entire family had to undergo several challenges either on the treatment or on the social aspects life. All the learning exercise and the lessons learnt were the motivating forces to achieve several of aspects of visions translated into objectives that reach all the needy globally
Hence the formation of Sudha foundation in bringing global knowledge and experiences and also in providing all types of technological infrastructure and tools in a cost effective fashion for the entire medical, patient community, occurred

Inauguration of the Paediatric Cardiology segment of web portal was performed by Dr Suresh Rao, Head of the Department of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, Koklaben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital, Bombay. Second Sudha Memorial Oration delivered by Dr K R Balakrishnan, Director, Cardiac Sciences, Fortis Hospital.
The ceremony was presided by Prof S Vasudevan, the first Professor of Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, Government General Hospital, and Madras Medical College,
in the august presence of Prof. Dr Mannar Jawahar, Vice Chancellor of Anna University.
Dr Devi Shetty’s video on “Innovations in Healthcare Delivery system” was presented.
The guests of honours are pioneers in the fields of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, Adult Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, distinguished professors of different specialities and those who have made an indelible mark in the horizon of medical profession, assisting in the strides it has made in India. Honouring them is only the beginning. Dr Thirugnanasambandam, Paediatric Physician at the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children was the mentor of Dr Merlyn Joseph who was responsible for building up the Department of Paediatric Cardiology at the Institute of child Health and Hospital for Children.
Special invitees for the session were Prof. R Venakatasamy, of “Hand injury unit Fame” of Department of Plastic Surgery of Stanley Medical College Hospital and Prof. Mathangi Ramakrishnan of Burns unit of Plastic Surgery, Kilpauk Medical College.
.This is a field where the afflicted, their parents and relatives undergo intense suffering similar to cancer but with a difference. 70% of the children can live after surgery or interventional catheterisation and become normal subjects. 20% have slightly less exercise tolerance and 10% have a better quality and longevity of life. At the rate of progress made by scientific advancement , better results can be expected in the near future.
Thus our efforts under Sudha Foundation is slowly evolving into greener pastures hoping that cure in Oncology can also occur some day with the same scientific progress
