Sukumaran, joint secretary of Salem district MGR Mandram died in the prison.
AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa today handed over a solatium of Rs 50,000 to the family of AIADMK activist M Sukumaran who died in the central prison here yesterday.Sukumaran, joint secretary of Salem district MGR Mandram, was arrested and sent to judicial custody along with about 500 other AIADMK volunteers for participating in an agitation here on Friday.He complained of uneasiness on Friday night and later died in the prison.
Jayalalithaa, who handed over the solatium to Sukumaran’s wife, said timely treatment by the jail authorities would have saved his life.
