Sarath Kumar, popularly known as the “Supreme Star” among his fans, will launch a political party soon. The name of the party will be announced at the time of launch.

The party will aim to bring back the glorious days of Kamaraj rule in the State. It will be floated after consultations with intellectuals and elders who had closely interacted the late leader, said Mr. Sarath Kumar here on Tuesday. Mr. Sarath Kumar, who is back in town after laying the foundation stone for a Kamaraj memorial at Virudhunagar on Sunday, said that the present-day youth had misconceptions about politics as there was no proper leadership to guide them. Hence, they did not get themselves involved in politics.

His party’s aim would be to change their mindset and involve them in politics and in the nation-building process. He regretted that a majority of youth had little knowledge of Kamaraj, who ruled the State for nine years. His party’s aim would be to educate them on the “golden rule of Kamaraj.” Mr. Sarath Kumar denied that he was launching the political outfit as a rival to Vijayakant’s Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam. He did not consider anyone as his rival and the decision to launch the party was to guide the people. Mr. Sarath Kumar said the memorial would come on a 25-acre land and it would be a world-class one for a leader who led a simple life and who decided the destiny of the nation on two occasions.

A panel of experts would be formed soon to decide the features of the memorial. It would be completed in two years and was expected to cost about Rs. 6 crore. Many well-wishers wanted to donate liberally, he said. Source: TheHindu
