IT major Satyam Computer Services on Friday launched a new global development centre in Chennai for Japanese automobile giant Nissan’s North American operations.
The 50,000 square foot facility on the IT Highway would house more than 400 employees, which could go up to 750 within three years, Subu Subramanian, Vice President of Satyam Automotive and manufacturing business said.
Satyam has won the five-year multi-million-dollor deal to manage Nissan’s critical business applications for its North American market. It became the sole IT service provider for Nissan’s north America’s entire portfolio, including 321 applications in five locations across US and Canada, he said.
“We are looking forward to work with Satyam through this new relationship. Satyam’s expertise and global presence will aid Nissan reach its IT objectives aligned to our business goals. The new facility is a significant step towards reaching these goals and objectives’, Bob Greenberg, Chief Information officer, Nissan North America, said.
Subramanian said Satyam also planned to provide engineering services to Nissan Europe and Japan soon.
