The buzz currently in kollywood is that ace director Mira Nair is trying to rope in Prabu Deva in her next project. Mira Nair is well known for her films like Vanity Fair, Mississipi Masala, Salaam Bombay and Monsoon Wedding. She is currenly casting for her next movie ‘Shantaram’ based on the novel by Gregory David Roberts. This film is being co-produced by Johnny Depp who also plays the lead in the movie.
Prabhu Deva’s last appearance on screen was in a short film by Santhosh Sivan on AIDS. Mira Nair was so overwhelmed with his performance in this short film and efforts are on to rope him into Shantaram.
The other actors whose place has been confirmed for this mega budget film are Amitabh Bachchan, Irfan Khan and Konkona Sen. Vishal Bhardwaj is all set to compose music for Mira Nair’s Shantaram.
