Nothing criminal about Kamal Haasan’s nilavembu tweet decides Chennai police
Madras HC had recently asked the city police to register an FIR against the actor in case a cognizable offense is made out.
The complaint was filed by activist Devarajan after Haasan reportedly asked his fans to not distribute the nilavembu, a herbal concoction being promoted by the state government as a way to control the dengue outbreak, till doubts over its efficacy were clarified.
The Chennai city police on Monday stated that there is no prima facie case against the actor Kamal Haasan.
On Friday, the cyber crime cell wrote a letter to Mr. Devarajan, stating, “There is no prima facie case made out on the complaint given by you. Hence, your complaint is closed.”
