State Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy today announced that the counselling fee for engineering admission had been waived to benefit students.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, the Minister said the government had earlier announced the slashing of counselling fee from Rs 300 to Rs 200. Now, Chief Minister, considering students from far off places, has waived the fee fully.

The Minister also announced that the students can avail of a concession of half-the-fare for travelling in government transport corporation buses to attend the counselling in Chennai. Parents accompanying the students could also avail of the benefit, he said.

Ponmudy said the analysis marks for professional courses released by Salem-based education analyst Jayaprakash Gandhi were found to be factually incorrect and has created panic among the students and parents.

The government is now considering to take legal action against those who are misleading the students by issuing such analysis statements, he said. Source: NewsToday
