The star who gave new definition to negative role with her impressive portrayal of Neelambari is another star stepping in from movies to television serials. She will be seen in ‘Kalasam’, a mega serial on Sun TV which promises to be different from all the emotional family dramas that are being currently aired on TV.
Kalasam for a change will deal with the difficulties that lead protagonist Ramya Krishnan will face in her work place. After Poranda Veeda Pukunda Veeda ended, Kalasam has taken over the 8.30 pm slot from June 14th in Sun TV. In the serial, she is doing a double role. One of them is Nilambari, a character she played in the Rajini-starrer Padayappa and the other is Ranjani, an ordinary middle-class woman competing with business tycoon Sudha Chandran and fighting male chauvinism.
The serial is written by Kutty Padmini and produced by daughter Keerthana jointly with Ramya Krishnan’s sister Vinaya Krishnan. evan, Vijaya Krishnaraj, Metti Oli Vanaja, Sreedhar, Manohar also play prominent roles in the serial. Screenplay is by Devi Bala and dialogues by Jagan Mohan. The serial will be directed by M R Senthil Kumar. According to sources, the talented actress has surpassed Simran when it comes to remuneration. She is getting paid Rs 2 lakh per each episode of Kalasam.
However television is not a new medium for Ramya Krishnan who was earlier seen in Thangavettai, a game show on Sun TV.
