Actor Nayantara is in the news for many reasons, including the release of three of her movies for Deepavali, the blossoming romance with a co-star, and the dance number with Superstar Rajnikanth in `Sivaji’.The beautiful actor spoke about all this and more.

I am only two-and-a-half-years-old in this industry. When in college I was spotted by director Satyan Anthikad and was made a heroine in `Manassinakare’ (Malayalam). From then on I have been very busy.

While in college, I learnt Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Besides Sanskirt, I also know Hindi. I was one of the good students in college.

So far, I have done five Malayalam movies, eight in Tamil and two in Telugu. For me all the movies I have acted are good, but my favourite movie is `Vallavan’. It is a special movie for me, mainly because of the role I play in it and the way director Simbu has made the film.

Till now, all the directors I have worked with gave me `homely’ image. But, in `Vallavan’ I got a chance to convey different emotions. In `Gajani’ my role was limited. But, in `Vallavan’ I got a powerful character to play. It was a role which gave me scope to perform, without vulgarity.

I do not give much importance to gossip. I have very less time to spend on these things and I do not think about it at all or I just forget it.

Another question people have been asking me is why the dance number in `Sivaji’. I am doing it for three reasons — first and foremost for the sake of Superstar Rajinikanth, secondly because it gives me another chance to act with him after the super success of `Chandramukhi’. Then, the fact that Shankar is directing the movie.

This Deepavali has been a good one for me as three of my films released that day. I am happy that the people who watched the movies appreciated my character in all the three films. `Vallavan’ is a commercial hit, while `E’ is a non-commercial film. I had ample scope to perform in the latter. In `Thalaimagan’ I have shown that I can also play character roles.

I am doing a Malayalam movie with Mammotty. Four saris constitute my entire wardrobe for the film. Dull clothes and make up was the norm. I am glad that I am doing the film as it proves that I can work in both commercial as well as alternative movies.

I would love to do an art movie. But I would insist that I do the dubbing myself. Till date I have not thought about dubbing for my films. The main reason is lack of time. But, if a good movie comes my way and I feel that it will be nominated for an award I would do the dubbing myself.

I am happy that I have become a heroine in films. Right now it is the best thing that has happened to me. It is very difficult to get into films, and even then to become a star. God has been kind to me, and I have got the best in my field.
