Madhavan and his `Leukos Films` should be proud that they made Evano Oruvan. The movie directed by Nishikanth Kamat and the Tamil version of the Marathi trendsetter Dombivili Fast, Evano Oruvan conveys strong messages to the Society. The strong point of the movie is the portrayal of the middle class state of mind of censure of others but lacking the nerve to take on an issue of corruption in politics, inefficient police, poor health services, misappropriation of powers and malfunctioning of Govt.

Sridhar Vasudevan is an average, middle class Chennaiite, who runs his life according to the rule book. He is a man of ethics, who lives with his wife and two kids in Nanganallur and travels by train to his workplace. Vasudevan’s life is a unexciting, cycle of routine events for many years and he has to struggle each minute of his day to go on.

However, his wife (Sangeetha) is not satisfied and she is only too aware of all the things they could have and don’t, because of her husband’s principles.

At a certain point in life, Sridhar faces a case of dishonesty that compels him to take action. Motivated by his deep anger and guilt, Sridhar decides to strike back for wrong done to him, violently if required. When charged two rupees extra for a cool drink, he picks up a cricket bat and smashes the shop. From then on he takes law into his hands and goes about doing right the wrongs done to him. Inspector Vetri Maran (Seeman) is appointed to shoot him in an arranged ‘encounter’. Vetri Maran, an honest cop, feels justified by Sridhar’s approach. He comes to a quiet agreement with the young man, personally approves his action, and then arranges for the ‘encounter killing’. What happens next forms the climax of the story.

As a hero of the movie, Madhavan has done his job laudably. He has wonderfully handled varied emotions of anguish, misery, and rage. He has successfully underplayed the emotions in many places. Sangeetha has once again proved her talent. She has handled her role as a middle class housewife with ease. Cinematographer Sanjay’s camera work is excellent and Amit Pawar, the editor of the film has made the movie as a crispy.

Overall a very good movie!! Kudos to Madhavan.
