The marriage of director Bharathiraja’s son, actor Manoj, wed Nanthana on Nov. 19.
Bharathiraja and his family members met Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and invited him to the wedding to be held at Kozhikode on November 19. A reception is to be held at Mayor Radhakrishnan Chettiar Hall at Santhome on December 1. Bharathiraaja said people asked him different questions when his film `Alaigal Oiyvadillai’ was released.
“People asked me if I would allow my son to marry a girl from another caste or faith. Today I have lived up to the message I conveyed through my films. I knew that my son Manoj was in love with Nanthana. I waited for nearly a year, and now they will marry. Nanthana is an intelligent girl.” Manoj said he first saw Nanthana when she was acting in a Malayalam movie `Sathuryam’. She had come to Manoj’s bungalow at Neelangarai for shooting. “It was love at first sight for me. We were continuing our romance in secret. But, later my father came to know about it. I waited for both our parents to give the green signal.”
After the wedding, Manoj will announce his next acting venture. He also proposes to direct a movie.
