Southern Railway, Chennai is observing a `Vigilance Awareness Week’ from November 6 to 10. In the headquarters here, General Manager Thomas Varghese administered a pledge to eradicate corruption and to bring about transparency in all spheres of activities to workers. Similar pledges were administered in all divisional headquarters.
At a seminar organised, Mr. Varghese listed various areas where vigilance should be activated and revenue leakage stopped. Retired Vigilance Commissioner P. Shankar, inaugurating the seminar, explained the concept of vigilance, and the need for deterrent action against officials with mala fide intentions and implementation of Right to Information Act. A special Vigilance Bulletin was also released, with guidelines for the employees.
