The University of Madras’ Syndicate has approved three Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) for collaborative research and exchange programmes with Turkish and Japanese institutions.
The Department of Applied Geology will be collaborating with Kyoto University, Japan, Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies International Environment and Disaster Management Laboratory and Middle East Technical University, Turkey, Disaster Management and Research Centre in a multi-regional university collaboration to strengthen the new Centre for Natural Hazards and Disaster Studies of the Madras University.
This will also generate technical assistance for developing courses for the masters’, diploma and certificate programmes in disaster risk management at Madras University.
With NPO International Laboratory of Bio-Chemistry, Nagoya, Japan, the University will promote interest in bio-chemistry, antioxidants and related Basic Medical Sciences by collaborative research, faculty and student exchange and organisation of conferences and seminars.
