The Special Crimes Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation is to investigate the case relating to the May 9 attack on Dinakaran and “Sun TV” office premises in Madurai in which three persons died.
The notification has been issued and the central agency will re-register the case, registered initially by the local police, and take up investigation. A team will be formed to investigate the case, a CBI official said.
Earlier, the Tamil Nadu Government had sent a proposal to the Union Home Ministry and the Department of Personnel and Training along with a notification for transferring the case to the central agency. The notification accorded consent to the extension of powers and jurisdiction of the Delhi Special Police Establishment to the whole of the State for investigating the offence. Source: TheHindu
