Playback singer and actor Malaysia Vasudevan died on Sunday afternoon in a private hospital.
Vasudevan was 66 and survived by wife and two children V. Yugendran, and daughter Prashanthini who are also playback singers.
Vasudevan was admitted in the hospital a couple of days ago after a cardiac arrest.
Malaysia Vasudevan has sung over 8,000 songs in Tamil and more than 4,000 songs in the other south Indian languages. He has also acted in several films including ‘Oru Kaidhiyin Diary’, ‘Jallikattu’, ‘Mudal Vasantham’ and ‘Povae Unnakaga’. Vasudevan was a Kalaimamani award winner from the Tamil Nadu government.
Vasudevan known for his memorable songs like ‘Aattukutti Muttaiyittu’ in 16 Vayathinile’ and ‘Poongatru thirumbuma’ in ‘Muthal Mariyathai. Some of his big hits are ‘Kodai Kaala Katre’, ‘Ponmaana thedi naanum poovodu’, ‘Aaagaya gangai’ and ‘Oru thanga radathil’ .
