Chief Minister M Karunanidhi watches Sivaji

Sivaji had its first audience yesterday, the first set of people who were not involved in the film making or censoring process to see the movie and the audience was huge. Not huge in terms of numbers but in stature. You could say that a good part of the Tamil Nadu assembly was present to see the film headed by none other than the Chief Minister himself.

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi along with his family members watched a sneak preview of Sivaji at AVM preview theatre in Chennai on Monday (June 11) evening. Superstar Rajnikanth and his family members were present on the occasion.

The screening took place at the AVM Rajeswari theater at around 6:30 P.M. after the CM had arrived at around 15 minutes earlier. Karunanidhi was received at the studios by A V M Saravanan and M S Guhan. The CM was accompanied by his family and ministers of his cabinet including son Stalin, Arcot Veerasamy, Durai Murugan, Pongalur Pazhanisami. Rajnikanth was present at the screening along with his family. Also present were the AVM bosses Saravanan and Guhan along with veteran director S.P.Muthuraman.

Sivaji, one of the costliest films made in Tamil cinema, features Rajnikanth, Shriya, Vivek and Suman in the lead roles.  Music is by A R Rahman and cinematography by K V Anand.

At the end of the screening the CM was seen congratulating both Rajni and AVM Saravanan. When asked about the movie he said that it had turned out really well in a very grand manner. Now that the CM has endorsed it looks like we are in for a real treat later this week.

Sivaji will hit the screens on 15 June. The advance booking commenced Sunday and within a couple of hours, all the tickets were sold for the opening week.
