A R Rahman has been awarded a honorary doctorate degree from the Middlesex University in Hendon, London. Rahaman and Middlesex’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Driscoll, he signed a Memorandum of Understanding between his KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, India and the University.
The Memorandum of Understanding will focus on educational collaboration between India and the UK. The two organisations have agreed to explore the possibilities for collaboration in music and education and to support one of AR Rahman’s ‘pet projects’, that of the blending of Asian and western musical styles.
Rahman has already recieved doctorate from Aligarh University and Anna University. A R Rahman who recieved two oscar awards for his splendid music in Slumdog Millionare has been honoured in various ways after the acedamy award. Now the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited Rahman and British director Danny Boyle along with three other members from the multiple Oscar winning “Slumdog Millionaire” to join as members.
