Announcing Sujatha awards, in commemoration of the great writer
On the second death anniversary of one of the great writers of Tamil, Sujatha, a special commemorative meet was organized at The New Woodlands hotel on February 27, 2010. Director Shankar, Vasanth, Rajeev Menon, Actor Parthiban, A.Natarajan, Madan, Indira Parthasarathy, Gnanakoothan, Manushyaputhran participated in this special meet organised by Uyirmmai Padhipagam and Sujatha trust.
Uyirmmai publication and Sujatha trust jointly announced the annual Sujatha awards at this meeting. There are totally 6 awards to be presently annually on the death anniversary of Sujatha. Best compilation of short stories, Poetry, collection of articles, Novel would get an award each, apart from Best Little Magazine of the Year and Best Website of the Year (either blog or website) awards. The award would have a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a citation. The award for this year would be selected from books released dated between, 2008-09. More than 50 books of Sujatha, many of them big volumes of compilations, have been published by Uyirmmai publication with finesse. Most of Sujatha’s fiction and nonfiction are available at Uyirmmai.
