The US Embassy in India will adjust the consular exchange rate for visa fees from Rs 48 per one dollar from November 13 following the rise in rupee against the US currency.

The new rate is applicable for all rupee-denominated costs of visa and passport applications, including non-immigrant visa application fee paid at HDFC branches prior, the embassy said today.

The new application fee for non-immigrant visas is Rs 4,600, excluding HDFC fees or proceesing fees.

For those visa categories requiring payment of issuance fee, the new fee is Rs 2,300.

Only bank drafts for the exact amount required on the day an application form is submitted will be accepted, the embassy said.
