In a grand event to celebrate music, Isayaruvi presented the Sunfeast Tamil Music Awards in Nehru Indoor Stadium on Saturday evening. Twenty seven awards, interspersed with over six dance performances, livened up the teeming crowd that had arrived at the venue.
If Vijay and AR Rahman received thunderous applause, there was equal cheer when Lalgudi Jayaraman and Vikku Vinyakaram were presented the Legends Award. Sivaji The Boss made a clear sweep, with awards for Best Choreography, Song Conceptualisation, Best Male Singer (SPB for Ballelakka), Best Romantic Song (Sahana), Best Art Direction (Thottadarani), besides getting AR Rahman the Best Composer of the Year Award.
Paruthi Veeran received accolades for being Isaiyaruvi Album of the Year and Best Best Folk Song (Oororam). Best Lyricist Award went to Vairamuthu for Kaatrin Mozhi in Mozhi, which also gave Balaram the Best Singer Award. Harris Jayaraj received two awards for Best Youth Album (Unaale Unaale) and Hello FM listeners’ Choice (Unaale Unaale). Chithra was awarded Best Female Singer for Yaaro Yaaro from Chennai 600028, which also won an award for Miranda Crazy Song of the Year (Saroja Saamaan Nikalo).
Among the new comers, Shweta Mohan and Benny were awarded Best Singers, actress Rohini was Best Lyricist for Pachaikili Muthucharam, and GV Prakash Kumar was Best Music Director. Nirav Shah received an Award for Best Cinematography in Billa, and YogiB’s Engeyum Eppodhum was awarded the Best Remix of 2007. Source: newindpress
