180 Movie Press Meet Gallery
Press Release – Chennai, March 31st, 2011
The first look of the bi-lingual (Tamil and Telugu) film 180, directed by noted ad film maker and first time director Jayendra and produced by Sathyam Cinemas in association with Aghal Films promises a youthful and romantic film to look forward to this summer. As the team gets geared up for the audio launch scheduled for April 14th, the cast and crew give us a sneak peek into this romantic drama. The film has a beautiful and talented cast consisting of Siddharth, Nithya Menen and Priya Anand and has generated a lot of curiosity with the title and first look.
180 is a story about the power of the moment where the protagonist discovers that life is not lived thinking about yesterday or planning for tomorrow but living in the moment and appreciating it. The film focuses on delivering this message through all aspects – story, dialogues, music, lyrics, choreography and visuals. International colourist Kevin Shaw who has worked on several Hollywood projects spent three weeks working on the film. “This is my first Indian film and I absolutely love the way it has been done. Indian films are a very different genre and there are a lot of things that appeal to me in this film. In 180 we are going for some very strong looks in terms of colour that you won’t get in a normal feature film. The whole film has been shot to precision and looks very glamorous. Each shot has been worked on and everything looks rich and absolutely beautiful.” says Kevin.
The entire film was shot on the “Red” digital camera with a special song which was shot using the Phantom Flex camera. This is the first time a whole song has been shot using the Phantom. “A moment is just a fraction of a second and there is so much that goes unnoticed. I wanted to slow it down and explore it. The Phantom allowed me to explode a micro second by a hundred times and suddenly, ordinary actions like jumping and kicking look extraordinary. It’s absolutely fascinating.” says Jayendra.
Shot in various locations all over India, America and Malaysia, the film promises to deliver romance with a difference with not much revealed about the story except that the music by music director Sharreth will be something to look forward to. The story, screenplay and dialogues were written by Jayendra and Subha with cinematography by Balasubramaniem. The film’s tunes have lyrics written by Karky and Viveka and the songs have been choreographed by Dinesh and Prasanna.
There are some interesting promotions planned over the next month that will happen all over town and across various media. It is not revealed at this point as to what they are, so keep your eyes and ears open and get ready to tune into 180.
