eBay owned VoIP service provider Skype has launched the Skype 2.6 for Mac. This software has been going beta testing since quite some time.
The company said that the final release is now available as a free download from their website.
What is Skype?
Skype is a Voice Over IP (VOIP) technology powered communication software application which also supports text messaging, audio and video chat.
The company also provides SkypeIn and SkypeOut service enabling users to receive and send calls to traditional telephone and mobile phones.
Skype said that the latest Mac release comes with a feature unique for the Apple Mac users. This feature is Call Transfer and it allows the user to transfer an ongoing call to another Skype user.
The company added that the updated version also improves the way Skype handles birthday reminders and other notifications. This release is for Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later and requires the user to have a broadband or a high speed internet connection.
