The Southern film industry condemns vehemently on the IIFA Award taking place at the Blood strained Sri Lanka.

A meeting of the entire film fraternity of South India was convened at the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce premises on 28th May 2010. A concerned note on the IIFA award to take place in the blood strained Sri Lanka was noted. The entire world is aware of the genocide of innocent Tamilians by the Srilankan Army at the helm of the Government of Sri Lanka. It is still in the minds of millions of Indian s and at this juncture they are holding an award function at blood strained Sri Lanka.

We request the brothers in the North Indian film industry not to attend the IIFA awards at the blood strained Sri Lanka and boycott the same. The same view was endorsed by all the artistes, technicians employees, Producers, distributors and exhibitors of four Southern States Chamber of Commerce.

Apart from this it is also resolved that we will not encourage any Southern film to shoot in Sri Lanka hereafter including cultural programmes.

It is also resolved that henceforth any film personalities who participates in Sri Lanka for the IIFA Award, we the South Indian film industry will not render co-operation to them.

The Exhibitors Associations in South India will boycott their films.

We are not against IIFa award at any place in the world, we are against only taking place at the blood strained Sri Lanka.
