Tamil films are a big hit with people in Durban, Raj Govender, director of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Durban, South Africa, said.

‘The South Indian Film Festival’, organised by the Consulate-General of India, Durban, in association with the Avalon Group, screened classics from August 30 to September 6.

The festival, held as part of the ‘Indian Experience’ to celebrate 60 years of Independence, met with an “overwhelming response”. “We screened some of our old classics in the recently held ‘The South Indian Film Festival’, organized from August 30 to September 6 by the Consulate-General of India, in association with the Avalon Group, as part of the ‘Indian Experience’ to celebrate 60 years of India’s Independence,” he said.
