Madurai, Nov. 8 (PTI): PWD officials today issued the third and final flood warning to the residents along the banks of the Vaigai river as the dam level reached 69 feet (maximum 71 feet) around 1000 hrs today
The inflow was 4,055 cusecs following heavy rains (75 mm) in the catchment areas. The entire inflow was being discharged, officials said.
Officials said 1500 cusecs was being released into the irrigation channels and the balance into the Vaigai river.
The Periyar dam level stood at 134.30 feet (maximum 136 feet). The inflow was 2163 cusecs and the discharge 1930 cusecs.
The rainfall recorded in MM ending 0830 hrs: Kuppanampatti 85; Veerapandi 37; Melur 26; Sothuparai 25; Uthamapalayam and Mettupatti 22 each: Shanmuganathi 20; Thaniamangalam 19; Andipatti 17; Madurai 15.2; Kallandhiri 16.6; Peranai11.5.
