The 41st annual Kalaimamani award function took place day before yesterday at the Kalaivanar Arangham. Tamilnadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala gave away the award and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi gave away the medallion.
Poet Kalapriya, writer Vannadasan, producer Kovai Thambi, directors Parthiban and Seeman are among the awardees. Other awardees from the film world honored by the Tamilnadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram are:
Actors Jayam Ravi,Simbu, Jeeva, Vishal, Ganja Karuppu, Vinith, actresses Trisha, Navia Nair, Mounika, Deepa Venkat, CID Shakuntala, R Aarathi, lyricists Na Muthukumar, Pa Vijay, Kapilan, music composer Vidyasagar, playback singers Tippu, Madhu Balakrishnan, Bombay Jayashree, cinematographer MV Paneerselvam and editor Vittal.
Those who participated in the function are writer Jayakanthan, director Balu Mahendra, President of Tamilnadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram Rama Narayanan and MP, Kanimozhi.
Since the CM could not stand for too long a time, he was seated and the awardees kneeled in front of him.
