US-based Electronic hardware maker Sanmina-SCI Corporation today announced an investment of Rs 225 crore for setting up an electronic hardware components project at Oragadam Hi-Tech zone.

The company will set up the manufacturing unit in a 100 acre area with the investment going up to Rs 315 crore.

The project is likely to provide direct employment to 4,000 people and indirect jobs to 6,000.

An MoU with the state government was signed by Industries Secretary Shaktikanta Das and Sanmina-SCI President (Global Operations) Hari Pillai in the presence of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the State Secretariat here.

The spare parts manufacturers of the company are also planning to set up a base in Tamil Nadu, an official statement said later.
