Mirchi Music Awards honours South
~ Mirchi Music Awards to felicitate the Best of Tamil Film Music ~
Chennai 9th July, 2010: Music has always been an integral part of life, knowing no boundaries. Every year, several songs and albums get released; few get noticed by listeners while a handful of them get recognised at award ceremonies. Many songs don’t even get promoted for reasons unknown. For the kind of effort that goes into making music for films, this beautiful art still does not get its due credit.
To celebrate excellence and felicitate the deserving composers and performers in our music industry; Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, India’s hottest Radio station launched the Mirchi Music Awards. After the successful completion of the 2nd edition in the Hindi Film Music Industry Radio Mirchi now presents Mirchi Music Awards South 2009.
Mirchi Music Awards – South will be held on 17th July 2010 at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai
The Mirchi awards are judged by a jury that stands out for its personal achievements, passion for music and its unerring judgment about the finer nuances of music. Winners will be decided by a panel of distinguished Jury Members. The Jury is chaired by Mr. Gangai Amaren. Other illustrious members of the Jury are:

South India’s biggest Music Awards will witness the Best of Music talent getting crowned after going through tough tests and parameters designed by these doyens of the Tamil film music industry.
Speaking about the Radio Mirchi Music Awards Mr. Gangai Amaren, Jury Chairman, Mirchi Music Awards said,” Radio Mirchi is now doing something completely new – the Mirchi Music Awards. They are involved in doing a thorough musical research of all South Indian languages, i.e. Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam in an effort to identify the best lyricist, best musician, best music director, best singer, etc of south India. I am very happy to be associated with the Mirchi Music Awards as the Chairperson of the jury as this award rewards people for their contribution to the field of film music.”

While the awards will felicitate musicians across various categories, for the popular awards, there is of course the voice and opinion of Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM listeners who have backed the show with unrelenting enthusiasm.
