Sixth National Symposium on
“Noni – A Panacea for Wellness”
Chennai, September 2011: Noni Biotech Private Limited, a company with a vision to create a World of Wellness, and a mission to touch One Billion people with Wellness Awareness by 2020, is holding its 6th National Research Symposium – Noni Search 2011, on the 1st and 2nd of October 2011, at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai.
After a successful World Noni Congress held in October 2010, Noni Search 2011 is a platform for researchers from all over the world to present their research findings on Noni fruit – Morinda citrifolia.
It is being organized by the World Noni Research Foundation ( WNRF), which undertakes research in crop improvement, plant protection, clinical, pharmacological and food science, through different organizations spread all over the country.
The theme for Noni Search 2011 is NONI: A PANACEA FOR WELLNESS.
His Excellency Shri Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, the Governor of Odissa, will be the Chief Guest.
Padma Bhushan Dr.R.S.Paroda, Former Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), GOI will preside over the Inaugural session.
Dr. S.Ayyappan, Secretary DARE, and Director General of ICAR, New Delhi will be the Chief Guest for the plenary session.
Padma Bhushan Porf.B.M.Hegde and Padma Shri Dr.D.R.Kaarthikeyan are
guests of honour.
Dr.Kirti Singh, Chairperson, World Noni Research Foundation and President, International Society of Noni Science will introduce the theme of the symposium.
There are 16 posters and 36 papers on Noni, Which will be presented, over 6 technical sessions, during the symposium. More than 3000 delegates from all parts of India consisting of scientists, researchers, students, farmers and traders have registered to participate. There are also foreign delegates coming from UAE, Kuwait and many other countries, to participate.
This symposium will help to take the research to higher and deeper levels and the Noni fruit to the masses, for good health and well-being.
About NONI
Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.)is popularly known as Indian Mulberry. It belongs to Rubiaceae Family. Noni was one of the most widely used medicinal plants in Polynesia prior to European contact and continues to be popular among modern population. Medicinal values of Noni were known to man many centruries ago. Indian Mulberry (Morinda citrifolia L) find mention in folk remedies in ancient literature for over 2000 years.
