It has been a great year for Actress Priya Mani, where she has been bagging one award after another for her top performance as Muthazhagu in Paruthiveeran. She has been selected as the best actress in the 54th National Film Awards that was announced today(June 10th).

In the movie Paruthiveeran, she portrayed `Muthazhagu’, the rustic village girl who transforms the ruffian lead character, Paruthiveeran into a mature human being. A city-bred girl, Priyamani depicted the award-winning role of Muthazhagu, a girl raised in a rural village of Madurai, with hardly any make-up, performing the role with ease.

Priya previously also got the State award for Best Actress for the same film last year. Priya had won the Best Actress at the prestigious 9th Osiana film festival. She was also chosen to light the lamp at the prestigious India International Film Festival in Goa with Sharukh Khan.
