Kannai Nambathey is written and directed by Mu Maran, who is best known for making the 2018 action-thriller Iravukku Aayiram Kangal which starred Arulnithi in the lead.
Kannai Nambathey has Udhayanidhi Stalin playing the lead while Aathmika plays the female lead. The film has been long in the making and the work began in 2018. The star cast includes Bhumika Chawla, Srikanth, Prasanna, Sathish, Subiksha, Vasundhara to name a few. It has music composed by Siddhu Kumar and is bankrolled by Lipi Cine Crafts.
