Informatio?n Systems Audit & Control Associatio?n (ISACA) Silver Jubilee 1986-2011

Chennai, September 2011: ISACA Chennai Chapter was the first chapter to be established in India in 1986.  Having completed, 25 years of service of service to its members and the Information Systems Governance professionals in general, the silver jubilee is being celebrated this year. ISACA is an independent not-for-profit global association and has its international headquarters in Illinois, USA. ISACA engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted industry-leading knowledge and practices for information systems. ISACA helps members achieve individual and organizational success resulting in greater trust and value from information systems.

ISACA provides practical guidance, benchmarks and other effective tools for all enterprises that use information systems. Through its comprehensive guidance and services, ISACA defines the roles of information systems governance, security, audit and assurance professionals worldwide. The CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), CGEIT (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT) and CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) certifications offered by ISACA are globally accepted and recognized and provide the necessary knowledge to professionals in their effective functioning.

ISACA’s  IS auditing and control standards are followed by practitioners worldwide. ISACA’s practical guidance benchmarks and research pinpoint professional issues challenging enterprises today. Through its comprehensive services, ISACA defines the roles of information systems, governance, security, risk and audit assurance professionals.

The COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies), Val IT and Risk IT governance frameworks are brands respected and used by IS and IT professionals for the benefit of their enterprises.

ISACA that started of as EDP Auditors association in 1967 with few members has now grown into a large global network of professionals with a membership of more than 86,000 with 186 chapters and has its presence in more than 160 countries. Global chapter network is another strength of ISACA and these chapters provide members education, resource sharing, advocacy, professional networking and a host of other benefits on a local level.

ISACA publishes a leading technical journal in the information control field, the ISACA Journal. ISACA also hosts a series of international conferences focusing on both technical and managerial topics pertinent to the IS assurance, control, security and IT governance professions. Together, ISACA and its affiliated IT Governance Institute lead the information technology governance community and serve its practitioners by providing the elements needed by IT professionals in an ever-changing worldwide environment.

Silver Anniversary Celebrations

As a part of the silver anniversary celebrations, the chapter is holding a conference on “Trust in and Value from Information Systems” on 10th September, 2011 at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Anna Salai. The international President of ISACA and IT Governance Institute, Mr.Kenneth L. Vander Wal, CISA, CPA will be delivering the key note address.

Keynote Speaker

Kenneth L. Vander Wal, CISA,CPA is a retired national partner in the Technology and Security Risk Services practice of Ernst & Young, where he was responsible for the firm’s global TSRS quality and risk management program. With more than 40 years of IT experience, he has worked in multiple areas of information systems in a variety of industries, including systems development, systems programming, project management, quality assurance, IT auditing and systems security. Before joining Ernst & Young in 1979, Vander Wal worked at the Pentagon, where he developed systems to support the Department of Army staff, and for a computer software company in a systems technical support role. He is a coauthor of IT Control Objectives for Sarbanes-Oxley, 2nd Edition, published by ITGI, and serves on ISACA’s Governance Advisory Council and Strategic Advisory Council. He is a past member of the ISACA Guidance and Practices Committee, Knowledge Board, and Professional Issues and Advocacy Task Force. He was international vice president of ISACA from 2007-2011.
