Oscar-winning music director A R Rehman, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin and space scientist and Chandrayaan-I project director Mayilswamy Annadurai were today conferred honorary doctorates by Anna University.

Anna University, a premier technological institution in the country, today conferred Honorary Doctorates on three eminent personalities in recognition of their contribution in their respective fields.
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin, Oscar Winner A R Rahman and Space Scientist and Project Director of Chandrayaan-1, India’s first mission to moon, Mayilsamy Annadurai, were conferred the Degrees of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) at a Special Convocation held here this evening.
The convocation was held to mark the birth centenary of former chief minister C N Annadurai, after whom the prestigious Institution is named.
A host of dignitaries, including University Chancellor and Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, senior ministers of the State Cabinet, Union Ministers, MPs, MLAs and a host of political leaders were present on the occasion.
Reading out the citations, Anna University Vice-Chancellor P Mannar Jawahar hailed Mr Stalin as an outstanding representative of the new generation of indian politics.
After entering the political stream as a youth wing leader, Mr Stalin, son of Dravidian stalwart and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, became the Deputy Chief Minister on being elected to the State Assembly for the fourth time through his perseverance and dedication he said.
