World No.17 (former World No. 1) and two-time Chennai Open champion (2004, 2005), Spaniard Carlos Moya confirmed his participation for Chennai Open 2008. The 13th edition of tournament will be held from December 31 to January 6, 2008, at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Nungambakkam.
Carlos Moya has been an overwhelming crowd favourite and he will continue his romance with India and Chennai in particular, with his sixth appearance in the last seven years at the tournament.
Carlos Moya, winner of 20 ATP singles championships, was well on-course to another final at Chennai Open 2007 early this year, but a brilliant performance by Austrian Stefan Koubek (the eventual runner-up) deprived him of the same.
Confirming his participation, Moya, winner of 20 ATP singles championships said, “I always look forward to coming to India and especially Chennai. It is just fantastic here and I love the adulation and support of the crowd of Chennai. I have some very fond memories of playing at the Chennai Open and would love to improve my performance in 2008 and start the year on a bright note. This is my sixth visit here and having won the title twice before, I am confident that I will be able to raise my game to the highest level.â€Â
