Chennai, 05th.Dec, 2009: Canon India, one of the finest players in digital imaging technology, had organized a Photography Contest called “City Life in Chennai”, for the press photographers, which gave them a great creative platform, further allowing them to manifest their piece of art to a wide category of audience. And keeping the dynamics upbeat in the true business style, Canon India also announced the launch of its new EOS 7D camera from the high-end DSLR range.

The Contest had invited three entries each online from all the young enthusiastic press photographers and the pros in the media fraternity with the theme that best describes the spirit of the city. This work of art was judged by an eminent jury panel set in especially for the event which included Mr. KL Raja Poonsingh , a learned photographer with more than 20 years of experience and an official mentor for Canon India .and Mr. Sharad Haksar, one of India’s leading photographers who has worked with some topmost brands of the country and won various awards at the IPA commonly known as photography Oscars .

Ace Indian cricketer, and the star bowler, Mr. Anil Kumble, along with Mr. Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India, and Mr. Shunichi Senda, Director ICP, Canon India, honored the winners.

The best way to understand the spirit of any city is to see it from the eyes of its dewellers, and this contest was designed to see and capture the vibrant colors of the city of Chennai.  Keeping the spirit of the program in mind, we have also  unveiled one of the new inventions from our DSLR camp called the EOS 7D, a modern day digital camera that caters to the needs of the leading age photographers, with its surpassing technology and embedded features. It is matter of great pride for us to see the results that Canon DSLR category has grown over 100% over last year”

To conclude, the event was an amalgamation of the photography contest that was coupled to the right magnitude with the launch of the new camera, EOS 7D, from the high-end DSLR range that iterates a simple yet impact leaving message “The camera that captures what you see”.
