Chennai most Extravagant Award Ceremony

The 5th Annual Close Up Vijay Awards powered by Kohinoor Idu Asal Basmati was attended by an array of stars from the film industry, eminent directors, notable producers, top-notch technicians. With international standards, grandiose sets and with live performances of the stars on stage, VIJAY AWARDS was held on 25 June, 2011, at Nehru Indoor Stadium Chennai.

Of the 149 films released in 2010, winners from 32 different categories were announced in the evening’s awards ceremony. The Vijay Rasigan Express publicity bus traversed across the state and collected votes from the public for their favorite stars. The favorite category award was chosen on the basis of the votes collected from the public.

AWARDS AND WINNERS:

Favorite HERO award was given to none other than Super Star Rajnikanth. Favorite HEROINE award was given to Trisha. Favorite DIRECTOR award was given to Shankar and Favorite Film was Enthiran.

27 BEST category awards were chosen by the eminent Jury members, Director A.R. Murugadoss, cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran, actors Radhika Sarathkumar, Lizzy Priyadarshan and writer Director Yuhi Sethu.

Best ACTOR of the year 2010 was given to VIKRAM for the film ‘Ravanan’. Best actor – female’ award was given to ANJALI for the film ‘Angadi Theru’. Best DIRECTOR award was given to Vasantha Balan for the film ‘Angadi Theru’ and the BEST film awarded was ‘ANGADI THERU’ again.

Best MUSIC DIRECTOR Award was given to none other than the ‘Mozart of Madras’ A.R. Rahman for the film ‘Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya’.

Best Supporting Actor Male was given to THAMBI RAMAIYA and Best Supporting Actor Female was given to SARANYA for the films ‘Thenmerku Paruvakartu’ and ‘Mynaa’ respectively. Best COMEDIAN award was given to SANTHANAM for the film ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’.

Best CINEMATOGRAPHER award was given to RATINAVEL for the film ‘Enthiran’. Kasi Viswanathan won the Best EDITOR award for the film ‘Naan Mahan Alla’. Best STUNT Director Award was given to Anal Arasu for the film ‘Naan Mahan Alla’.

Best ART DIRECTOR award was given to Selvakumar for the film ‘Madarasapattinam’. Best Debut actor female award was given to AMALA PAUL for the film ‘Mynaa’. Best Debut Actor male was given to Viddharth for the film ‘Mynaa’.

Best story, screenplay, writer award was given to PRABU SALOMAN for the film ‘Mynaa’. Best LYRICIST Award was given to VAIRAMUTHU for a song in ‘Then Merku Paruvakatru’.

Best CHOREOGRAPHER Award was given to DINESH for the song ‘Jillavittu’ from the film ‘Eesan’. Best Make Up Artist award was given to Banu for the film ‘Enthiran’ and Deepali won the Best Constume Designer award for the film ‘Madarasapattinam’.

Director K. BALACHANDAR was awarded the most prestigious ‘CHEVALIER SIVAJI GANESAN AWARD for excellence in Indian cinema. While actor SURYA was given the Best ENTERTAINER award for the year 2010, for ‘Singam’. Jury special award was given to director Seenu Ramasamy for the film ‘Thenmerku Paruvakatru’.

Best find of the year award was given to Lyricist Madan Karki and choreographer Remo D’souze for the film ‘Enthiran’. Best CREW of the year award was given ‘Mynaa’ team. This year too a special award for social service was given to actor Lawrence. Choreographer Sundaram Master was awarded the ‘Contribution to the Tamil cinema’ award.

Adding glitz and glamour to the award ceremony most popular faces of the tinsel town actors Bharath, Shreya Saran, Amala Paul and many others have performed on stage.
