“‘Chimera’, a science crime investigation thriller, is getting ready for a pan-India release.”
Here’s an overview of the upcoming pan-Indian film ‘Kaimera’, directed by Manik Jay.N:
‘Kaimera’ – A Unique Scientific Crime Thriller from Manik Jay.N
After the success of ‘Paramu’ and ‘Selfish’, director Manik Jay.N is back with his third directorial venture, ‘Kaimera’. This intriguing scientific crime thriller explores a novel concept: what happens when animal cells are introduced into a human body, altering their behavior to become more animalistic?
Manik Jay.N, who made his acting debut in ‘Vachikkava’ before stepping into direction with ‘Paramu’, also directed and acted in the bilingual film ‘Selfish’ (Tamil and Kannada). For ‘Kaimera’, he has taken on the dual role of producer and director.
Cast and Plot
The film introduces LNT Ettish as the protagonist. The cast also includes Tharai Krishnan, Ranjith Kumar in diverse roles, and director Manik Jay himself in another crucial character. Soumya, Krishna Nandhu, and Gnaneswari star as the three female leads.
The core idea of ‘Kaimera’ stems from scientific research on how introducing cells from one animal into another can alter its characteristics. The title itself, ‘Kaimera’, is a Marathi word signifying “Manorajyam” or genetic modification, perfectly encapsulating the film’s theme.
The story unfolds around Bengaluru, with principal photography taking place in Bengaluru, Hampi, and Hosur. Interestingly, the lead actor immersed himself so deeply in his role that he suffered psychological effects for nearly two months after filming concluded, requiring medical treatment to recover.
Director’s Vision and Pan-India Release
Director Manik Jay describes ‘Kaimera’ as a scientific crime thriller that offers a fresh and never-before-told narrative. He emphasizes that the film will provide a new experience for audiences, particularly for suspense lovers, with its unpredictable plot. Despite its thrilling premise, the movie will also feature ample humor and a family-friendly storyline. To maintain a realistic tone, only newcomers were cast in the film.
‘Kaimera’ is set for a grand pan-Indian release in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The film features five songs, sung by renowned artists such as Unni Krishnan, Satyaprakash, Prasanna, Anuradha Bhat, Manasa Holla, and other popular singers in their respective languages. Notably, popular singer Anuradha Bhat was so impressed by the songs that she volunteered to sing one track in all five languages.
The film is currently undergoing censorship, with promotional activities across all languages slated to begin soon. An announcement regarding the film’s music launch is also expected shortly.
