Just like his previous movies Iyarkkai and Ee director Jagannathan’s Peraanmai promises to be different and lives up to the expectation. The movie has a perfect blend of social message and commercial elements.
Peranmai about a batch of NCC girls(Dhansika, Maha, Liasri, Saranya and Vasundhara) who are selected to do trekking in the jungle with Dhruvan(Jayam Ravi) who hails from a tribal community. The girls who are arrogant initially are faced with unforseen trivials once they enter the forest.
There is a gang of foriegn terrorist who are on the mission to spoil India from launching a satellite. How Dhruvan and the girls bond together and break the plans of the terrorists forms the rest of the story.
Jeganathan shows the tribes in our country in a new light and their plight even after 62 years of independence is well portrayed. Jeyam Ravi has done a splendid job in his role as a forest officer after shedding his chocolate boy looks. Roland Kickinger as the foriegn terroist has done a good job but could have done better. Vadivelu and Oorvasi add to the comedy element. Sathesh Kumar has done a brilliant job in cinematography.
On the whole Peranmai is a good blend of script and acting.
