Mohanlal is undoubtedly one of the most talented actors in Indian cinema. He has several hit films under his belt and had won National Awards for best actor twice for his performance in Bharatham and Vaanaprastham. He had also been conferred India’s highest civilian honour Padma Shri Award for his contribution to Indian cinema. His film Kireedam also won him Special Jury Award. As if this is not enough, he has won yet another award. Yes, he has added one more feather on his cap by bagging Amritha Awards for best actor for his performance in Keerthi Chakra and Vadakunnathan.
The third Amritha Awards were presented at a function a couple of days ago. Navya Nair was adjusted the best actress for her performance in Saira. The best director award went to Roshan Andrews for his film Notebook. However, it was Classmates which won maximum awards with Radhika winning best supporting actress award, James Albert for screenplay, Alex Paul for his music, Renjan Abraham for editing and S.B.Satheesh for costume design.
Other recipients of the award include Gireesh Puthencherry for his lyrics. Roma was adjusted the best newcomer for her performance in Notebook and Malavika bagged the best child artiste award for her film Karutha Pakshikal. The best playback singer awards went to M.G. Sreekumar and Sujatha. Filmmaker K.S. Sethu Madhavan was also awarded for his tremendous contribution to Malayalam cinema.
With films like Thoovanathumbikal, Kireedam, Sphadikam, Bharatham, Iruvar, Company, Vaanaprastham and Thanmathra to his credit, Mohanlal is certainly one of the most prolific actors around. Some may think the beginning of his end has come considering his age but he is here to prove them wrong. He is still going strong.
