Moving over to action is cameraman-turned-director Jeeva. Known for his soft handling of romantic entertainers, Unnale Unnale passed the younger audience verdict. Flush from that success, Jeeva is shifting gears to direct an action movie featuring Jeyam Ravi and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranawat.
Of the surprise choice of the Gangster-fame Kangana in a village character, Jeeva said he found the innocence in the face. ‘She has the right expressions to fit in any character. I had shortlised a few names before settling for Kangana. I have to look from the view of a cameraman too. On both counts, she was my spot on choice. In her ability to pick the language, Kangana has opened the doors for a good stint in Kollywood. Dham Dhoom should provide the answer.’
Of the unusual title, Jeeva felt it was on the right lines considering the theme he has on mind. ‘It is nothing of the sort with the hero on a bashing spree. When you build up the suspense the viewer has to experience the edge-of-the-seat feeling. The musical score of Harris Jayaraj should build up the momentum.’ As much of the story unfolds in Russia, a 45-day schedule will take place in the exotic locales. Years ago, Raj Kapoor was the first one to shoot a circus scene (Mera Naam Joker) in Russia.
Though some Tamil songs had been canned in Russia, this is the first time a slice of the action unfolds in the famous historic places. The supporting cast has Jayaram, Lakshmi Rai, Anu Hasan, Mahadevan and Bose Venkat. The other highlights of Dhaam Dhoomare: Kanal Kannan (stunt); V T Vijayan (editing); Thotta Tharani (art); Raju Sundaram (dance) and S Ramakrishnan (dialogues).
