GLORY TO THE FILMMAKER AWARD to MANI RATMAN
“JAEGER-LECOULTRE GLORY TO THE FILMMAKER AWARD” to MANI RATMAN was awarded on Monday. Mr.Mani Ratnam is the 1st Indian to be awarded and honoured with GLORY TO THE FILMMAKER AWARD at the Venice International Film Festival.
The award ceremony was followed by the screening of the film Raavanan at the end of which over 600 delegates gave a standing ovation which lasted for 5 minutes.
Acclaimed director Mani Ratnam has been honoured with Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award at the Venice Film Festival held on 6th September. Announced this at Cannes, just before the launch of Mani Ratnam’s Film Raavan, Venice Film Festival director Marco Muller said, Mani Ratnam is one of the greatest innovators in contemporary Indian Cinema. He helped introduce the auteur concept to contemporary Bollywood. We are very proud to honour the work of the great Indian director Mani Ratnam.

In addition to Mr. Mani Ratnam, Mrs. Suhasini, Maniratnam, Mr. Vikram, Mr.Abhishek Bachchan and Ms.Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are attendrd the 67.Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica (67th Venice International Film Festival.)
The Award Ceremony happened on September 6th and Raavanan (Tamil) & Raavan (Hindi) has screened.
Raavanan (Tamil) & Raavan (Hindi) will also take part in the PUSAN International Film Festival in October 2010.
