It is celebration time in the camp of Tamil director Bala. He has been adjudged best director at the 56th National Film Awards for his last offering “Naan Kadavul”. His years of effort has paid off and he has dedicated the award to his mentor director Balu Mahendra.
Though this is Bala’s first National Award as a director, his film “Pithamagan” had fetched best actor National Award for its lead actor Vikram. Bala had expected Arya, Pooja and Ilayaraja also to win National Awards and is a little dissapointed that they did not get the award. None the less, he is a very happy man.
Gautham Menon’s Vaaranam Aayiram has also won the Best Popular Tamil Movie award.
