President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday conferred Padma Awards to personalities at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.Among those honoured include south superstar Rajnikanth, actress Priyanka Chopa, tennis star Sania Mirza, bollywood singer Udit Narayan and others. Rajnikanth was given the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honour. Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was honoured with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour. The singer Udit Narayan is one of the most known voices in Bollywood and has given more than 100 hit songs in his career. While Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and the former Miss world has been a part of Hindi cinema for almost a decade and have made India proud globally with her stint in the American TV series ‘Quantico’.
Reportedly, Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
