The director of the upcoming film “Aachariyangal”, Harshavardhan along with his team, meet Ulaganayagan Kamalhaasan recently. Harshavardhan, while talking about this meeting, says –
Rajkamal Films International & IIT Madras conducted a “Screen writing workshop” 3 years back & I was one among the 250 lucky participants. While speaking on the last day of the event, Mr.Kamalhaasan said “I have been spilling blood for the last 3 decades to make the cinema that I believe in and Iam prepared to spill even more blood for that cause in future as well”, which was truly very inspiring. From that day on, I started to believe that new directors like me also should share the responsibility of taking the tamil cinema to the next level.
Now, I have directed a film called “Aachariyangal”, which has a very novel script. We had decided not to have songs for this racy commercial thriller & have shot the film without any songs. I feel that I have derived this courage from none other than Mr.Kamalhaasan & desperately wanted to meet him to show my movie’s trailer & get his blessings.
Kamal Sir agreed to meet me, after hearing that I had participated in his script-writing workshop as a student. Our PRO Nikil helped us a lot in arranging this meeting & our heartfelt thanks for him. I, along with my film’s hero Taman Kumar & cinematographer Deepak met Kamal Sir on an afternoon. Inspite of his busy schedule Kamal Sir spent a lot of time with us discussing our film & its concept. He liked our movie’s trailer very much & appreciated us whole-heartedly. The fact that I have not worked under any director or undergone any formal education in film making was quite surprising for him & he gave me some good advices about ‘strengthening the basics’ in film making. We could never forget those few minutes that we got to spend with The Legend. He is truly a ‘Universal Star’.
