Its a new twist to the Enthiran story. No, not in the script of the film but in the production of the film. The initial producers of the movie, Ayangaran and Eros have backed out of the movie and Sun Pictures has stepped into their shoes to produce the Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rai starrer 100+ crore budget movie.
The movie, has completed three schedules so far, including those in Peru, Goa, and Chennai. Directed by Shankar, the movie has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the heroine and noted music director A R Rahman scoring the music, said a release from Kalanidhi Maran, owner of the Sun network.
The sci -fi movie, to be directed by Shankar and with a whopping Rs 100 crore + budget, was initially supposed to have been produced by London based Ayngaran International, in which Kishore Lulla-owned Eros International has a controlling stake. While Eros International had backed out of the project owing to a financial crisis more than a week ago, Ayngaran’s sudden withdrawal from the project has given rise to speculation.
For Kalanidhi Maran, it will still be a huge gamble considering his experience in bankrolling movies is limited to Kadhalil Vizhunthen’ and Tenavattu’, both of which were taken over by Sun Pictures midway. The growth of the overseas audience in recent years and the potential for merchandising and sale of satellite rights are expected to make up for the huge costs which the film will incur.
