The cricket coach Greg Chappell was on Monday man-handled at the Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar by a fan protesting the non-inclusion of cricketers from Orissa in the team.

The man, identified as Biranchi Maharana, was among a crowd of cameramen and photo-journalists and suddenly rushed towards Chappell as he was on his way to the team bus, Superintendent of Police Amitav Thakur said.

Chappell moved aside as the fan shouted slogans against BCCI, demanding to know why no cricketer from Orissa had been included in the team. The man, who represents ‘Kalinga Sena’, a political outfit, was whisked away immediately by the police. Chappell, who along with the team members drove to the hotel, refused to make any comment on the incident. The West Indies team, led by Brian Lara, also arrived in Bhubaneshwar by the same flight.
