Local Administration Minister MK Stalin today said that the allegations of AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa about the suicide of a district official were ‘utter lies and an expression of her imagination.’

In an official release here today, Stalin said Jayalalithaa’s statement on the suicide death of a Dharmapuri district official was motivated by ulterior motives and added that despite being proven wrong every time she issued such ‘false statements,’ she continued unabashed.

Stating that the Dharmapuri district collector had issued a statement denying the allegations of Jayalalithaa, the Minister said that the deceased official had written about his official duties and his health status in his suicide note.

‘As alleged by Jayalalithaa, the official never said in the note that he was pressurised to bear the expenditure for my visit,’ the Local administration Minister explained and stressed that the demand of Jayalalithaa that he and the Chief Minister should resign over the issue only showed how power hungry the leader of the opposition was.

‘She has made these allegations thinking that officials would be hard pressed the same way as it was during her regime,’ Stalin said and recalled the suicide of a farmer in Mannargudi during the previous AIADMK regime. ‘The farmer held Jayalalithaa and the then government solely responsible for his decision, but the official who ended his life now did not hold the government or Chief Minister responsible,’ the Minister said.
